Clearwell Castle, Gloucestershire - Wedding Photography

Jen & Richard Mantell

Jen and Richard Mantell's wedding on 6th November was so lovely for us here at Blenheim Photography to work on - they married at Huntley Church in Gloucestershire near Jen's childhood home and had their reception at the amazing Clearwell Castle in the Forest of Dean.

As Richard is a member of England's Commonwealth and Olympic hockey team, his England team mates lined up outside the church after the service to form a hockey stick "Guard of Honour" for them both.

They were driven to the castle by a family friend in his gorgeous dark blue Lagonda, posing for a few photos with it outside the castle before the rest of the guests arrived. Luckily the weather held for us at this point - JUST - but there was a helpful member of the castle's staff hovering with an umbrella for Jen just in case !

After dragging everyone out in the cold briefly for the obligatory Clearwell Castle group shot of everyone on the steps, we wandered down to the entrance to the castle with Jen, Richard and their groomsmen and bridesmaids for a few photos - as you can see, pageboy Joel was bemused by the antics of the adults !

And despite the cold, the ladies didn't need much persuading to show a bit of leg either:

Of course no wedding at Clearwell Castle is complete without an image of the happy couple under the portcullis - which also doubles as shelter from the November rain if necessary!

And the evening was kicked off with an elegant first dance routine to one of my favourite first dance tunes, "The Way You Look Tonight":

It's always fantastic to work at the castle, but especially so when you have such a lovely couple to photograph - can't wait to edit the rest of their wedding images now !
